Don’t Take Advice From Your Fears

Many people wonder why they do not have the success that they want in business. Most of the time, the reason will be right under their nose; they are just unable to see it. The first thing that someone who is not successful in business should ask is, “Am I successful in my personal life and relationships?”
If the answer is no, then you now have your answer as to why you are not successful in business. You cannot have a successful career if you do not have adequate personal and social development.

Do you know where you want to go in life but you just don’t know how to get there? Goal setting is a great way to achieve any long-term plans.
If
you aren’t good at goal setting or you haven’t been able to follow
through with goal setting in the past it does not mean that all hope is
lost. Instead, you simply need to go about it in a different way. You
need to approach goal setting from a positive perspective and one that
means something to you. You need to set up a belief system that
supports goal setting and you can do this through goal affirmations.

Your mind is the single most effective and essential tool to craft and program your thoughts, aspirations and goals. Consequently, when your goals are properly planned out, it will be very much easier to shape and design the life you want and ultimately the success you strive to attain. Yet, many people still do not even use their minds to set goals, let along take effective actions to achieve their goals.

I discovered Tony Buzan’s ‘Use Your Head’ book while looking in a second hand bookshop over two decades ago. It marked the start of my fascination with the concepts and potential of mind maps. I was intrigued enough by the material in the book to try out mind mapping while I was teaching high school science. This article summarizes the lessons learned from the classroom experience.

However, there are no accidents without value. What this means is no matter what happens to us, we can find value in the event.
There’s no question it is difficult to find the meaning or value in an uncomfortable situation as you are encountering it, but when you step back and look at the outcome it produces, you can almost always find some measure of value.

Goal setting turns some people right off! Even people who are serious about personal development and goal setting sometimes voice similar concerns. Why is that? Perhaps the goal is too ambitious for the abilities of the person concerned. And so they begin to stress and worry about never achieving it. That’s a clue to what I believe is the root cause behind the avoidance of setting goals, or of dropping them. Your own peace of mind.

The chapter on desire in “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill contains a formula for what he calls “transforming desire into money,” however, this method really could be used to transform desire into pretty much anything you pick. In his own words, here are the six steps:
First. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount.Second. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.”)
