Life can be pretty tough. Imagine having to work all day and when you come home, you still have to do so many chores. To top it all, your kids (if they are like mine) would probably have at least two fights about the smallest stuff like who gets to watch tv first or who gets to use the red crayon or who really won their bingo game.

When this happens to me, my thoughts would usually run this way, “I am already approaching a burn out and I don’t want to put more pressure on myself by finding out who really won your bingo game. I don’t deserve this very shallow issue that you should manage by yourselves.” However, the usual sentence that I would blurt out is quite short, “It’s no big deal!”

According to a parenting tip that my daughter’s school handed out a few days ago, saying that “it’s no big deal” tells our kids that we do not respect their world. What may be shallow for us can be very serious issues for them and ignoring these can show disrespect. If we want to make them respect us, we should also learn to address issues like these and help them handle it properly. Otherwise, even if we are unaware of it, we are putting stress into their lives too.

Stress can be very disabling for children who are just learning how to cope with life. Knowing that life can be very tough to us, adults, should be enough to make us prepare our kids to handle their own future pressures. One way is to be aware of how we can stop passing on our own stress to them and helping them learn how to deal with their small issues. Another is to learn how to control our own reactions to pressure too. If you want to learn more about how to fight stress, you can get free ebooks on the matter from this link:

Help yourself and your child deal with pressures. Life can be tough but it can be harder if we don’t realize the things that we are doing wrong. Let’s help our kids develop better self-esteem and gain their respect at it.
